Spagna, whose real name is Ivana Spagna, is an Italian singer-songwriter, producer, and writer from Valeggio sul Mincio, in the province of Verona. An iconic artist on the Italian and international music scene, she has sold over 10 million records in Europe, as well as in the United States, Japan, Canada, and Australia. Awarded an honorary gold record in 2006 for her lifetime achievement, she remains a major figure in popular music, moving seamlessly between Italo disco, pop rock, and French variety. Passionate about music from childhood, Spagna began by learning piano and participated in singing competitions at a young age. She recorded her first single in 1971, at just 15 years old, before pursuing her career under various artistic identities.
From the early 1980s, she established herself as a true hitmaker, contributing to the writing, composition, and sometimes performance of several successful Italo disco projects, notably alongside Baby's Gang, Hot Cold, Silver Pozzoli, Boney M, and as part of the duo Fun Fun, whose tracks became European hits.
Versatile, talented, and capable of reinventing herself, Spagna has left her mark on the history of Italian dance and European pop, making her name—in all its forms—a lasting reference on the international music scene.
